Johnston High School

Alvine Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection for the soon-to-be largest high school in Iowa. The new Johnston High School was necessitated by a growth of 2,431 students in its district since 2000. With over a $72 million budget for this facility, it will become the largest high school in Iowa serving up to 1,800 students in grades 10-12. This breathtaking facility will be well equipped with cutting edge classrooms with retractable walls to combine two classrooms, promoting cross-discipline learning and productive groupwork. Liberty Middle School

Alvine Engineering was instrumental in developing a comprehensive energy management approach and providing the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural lighting, and commissioning for this new 127,779-square-foot middle school for an initial student population of 360 students. The systems required sizing to accommodate a future addition of 30,000 square feet. In addition to the more obvious financial benefits of an energy-efficient and sustainable school design, there are educational benefits to be achieved by incorporating daylighting into the design of 21st-century school buildings.

Hartley Elementary Renovation

The original facility, constructed in 1921, was outdated and required the use of portables to accommodate the student population. Alvine Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services for the program renovations within the existing facility and for an addition that includes six general purpose classrooms, gymnasium/multi-purpose commons, restrooms, and support spaces as necessary.

John W. Rex Elementary School

The John W. Rex Elementary School is being funded with a combination of public and private educational partnerships to provide a productive, enriching learning environment. The school’s urban setting exposes students to the culturally-rich amenities available in downtown Oklahoma City. Alvine Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection for this new school.
