Alvine Engineering was contracted to provide mechanical, electrical, fire protection and telecommunications systems design for this new complex.Lincoln Public Schools’ Schoo Middle School and Fallbrook YMCA share an attached facility in this growing neighborhood — a first for Lincoln and the state of Nebraska. Both organizations use the same ground loop system for heating and cooling, making construction and operation very affordable. Some spaces are shared, including three gyms, locker rooms and some classrooms on the end of the school closest to the YMCA and the pool area. The complex slopes downhill approximately 50 feet; ball and soccer fields, as well as bike trails, surround the school, giving it a park-like atmosphere. The YMCA includes a gymnasium, indoor swimming pool with shallow-depth entry, lap pool and water slide, wellness center (cardio and strength equipment), walking/running track, exercise studios, conference room, child watch/child care/preschool area.
