Alvine Engineering was responsible for developing the preliminary program document for a proposed new STRATCOM headquarters facility. The new facility will house 1 million sq. ft. of office and mission critical Tier-4 data center spaces. The project includes administrative office areas, data centers, secure command and control facilities, secure backup facilities, auditoriums, conference center and rooms, VTC capabilities, cafeteria/food service area, server rooms, storage/maintenance areas, and other areas required to support the mission. The facility was designed to have raised floors, extensive sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) areas and soundproof (STC Rated) rooms, special purpose areas, loading dock, mail receiving and distribution center, and communications, mechanical, and electrical support rooms for high-reliability utility support. The facility will be targeted for USGBC LEED Silver certification.Alvine Engineering’s scope included mechanical, electrical, and technology engineering design, with a focus on mission critical design for data center and mission spaces. The schematic design included creative concepts for data center floor plans, high-density power and cooling, and modular design for growth. Alvine Engineering also developed target points for achieving the LEED certification.
