Doug Alvine, P.E., LEED AP


Doug is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional, committed to the goals of sustainable design initiatives and the integrated design approach for facilities. Over the past seven years, Doug has overseen the engineering systems designs of LEED Certified buildings totaling over 8 million sq. ft., including several highrise facilities. A native of Omaha and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Doug is a registered professional electrical engineer in 42 states. Along with his role at Alvine Engineering, Doug has been actively involved in the engineering profession and the community at large. He has served as a board member for Heartland Family Service, American Council of Engineering Companies, United Way of the Midlands, Junior Achievement, and the University of Nebraska President’s Advisory Council.Doug and his wife Kim are the proud parents of six children. In the spare time he sometimes finds, Doug enjoys swimming and running.

Steve Alvine, P.E., LEED AP, CxA

Chief Executive Officer

A native of Omaha and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Steve is a registered professional mechanical engineer in 42 states. Steve is a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional and a certified Commissioning Authority.Steve has extensive technical knowledge of the design of the life support systems for aquatic and zoo exhibits.In his 30+ years as a mechanical engineer, Steve’s interest in this discipline has lead to his involvement on a wide variety of aquatic and zoo exhibits across the country.  In his role as Principal-in-Charge of Alvine Aquatics projects, Steve leads the firm’s design of life support systems. He is valued as a leader in the life support engineering industry. He leads the design concepts of our mechanical HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems for many of our projects. Steve is a key contributor in our quality assurance process of our technical work for clients.

When away from the office, Steve takes every opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. He loves hiking and travels regularly to the Rocky Mountains. Closer to home, Steve can be found playing early-morning racquetball at the Y – except on college football Saturdays.

Brant Yantzer

Chief Operations Officer

As COO, Brant Yantzer manages the strategic growth, marketing, and operations of Alvine Engineering and IP Design Group, Alvine and Associates’ technology division.  He played a pivotal role in developing IP Design Group as a separate brand and in increasing its market presence. He is a native of Killdeer, North Dakota and a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck. His certifications include: Microsoft Certified Professional, 3com Certified Network Designer, IBM Network Communications Certified, and IBM Internet Certified.

Gary Cooper

Vice President, Principal
Gary Cooper, a project principal overseeing a team of electrical and mechanical systems designers, enjoys the challenge of engineering. His experience has sharpened his expertise in systems design for a wide variety of building types, from seemingly simple elementary education facilities to complex research laboratories. Gary is a member and past president of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers Inc., a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, and a member of the Advisory Committee for Mechanical Courses, Architectural Engineering Program at his alma mater, Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska.

John Mascarello, P.E., LEED AP

Vice President, Principal
John Mascarello is a registered Mechanical Engineer and a U.S. Green Building Council LEED Accredited Professional. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. John is a Certified Microbial Advanced Specialist and has been a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers Inc., since 1980. John oversees Alvine Engineering’s mechanical and electrical engineering operations. His expertise includes site utilities, energy plants, boiler, chiller and cooling tower installations and replacements, life safety and ADA code compliance in addition to plumbing, fire protection and energy conservation. Away from the office, John served as a football umpire for the Big 12 Conference and is a champion walleye fisherman.

Tom Thibodeau, P.E.

Tom Thibodeau is a registered Electrical Engineer, responsible for coordinating with clients and designing electrical solutions for the commercial, education, retail and worship market sectors. A native of Omaha and a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Tom is a member of the Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers and the IEEE.
