Nevin Suddarth CDT

Nevin grew up on a farm in east/central Nebraska where his dad and uncle farmed a combined 1,360 acres of corn, soybeans, and sorghum. As a teenager, Nevin became an “oiler” for the operation, maintaining five diesel irrigation motors and making welding repairs to row crop machinery. This led him to enroll at Southeast Community College in the HVAC Technology Program and become a sheet metal fabricator and installer in western Nebraska. A move to Omaha started him in mechanical drafting and design before transitioning into full time construction administration.

Nevin’s diverse mechanical background gives him a well-rounded perspective of the architecture, engineering, and construction industry.

Nevin’s commitment to the Iowa community is found within the many successful projects he has completed for various Iowa government organizations, the University of Iowa, and Iowa State University.

When he’s not in the office, you can often find Nevin attending career fairs at different universities. He appreciates the opportunity to listen to young people and encourage them to get involved with engineering – whether through a bachelor’s degree or getting into the trades.

“I’ve had a number of mentors in my career; each of them had an impact on how I go about working in the A-E-C industry on a daily basis. Now, I work to pay it forward.”
