PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The design of the Delaware Resource Group office building focused on sustainability, including energy-efficient LED light fixtures throughout with dimming capabilities for a wide range of functions such as general, ambient, task, and accent lighting. The mechanical system is geothermal with water source heat pumps and energy recovery units. The tech-smart facility’s design includes pathways that support telecommunications, audiovisual, and security requirements.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • The heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) system consists of water source heat pumps connected to an in-ground geothermal hydronic loop. Condenser water is circulated through heat pumps and the geothermal loop.
  • The design of this office building focused on sustainability, including energy-efficient LED light fixtures throughout with dimming capabilities for a wide range of functions such as general, ambient, task, and accent lighting.
  • The plumbing system utilizes domestic water supplied from the main. High-efficiency gas-fired water heaters generate hot water. Hot and cold water is distributed to toilet rooms with a hot water recirculation loop. Natural gas is provided for the emergency generator.
  • The light-hazard wet-pipe fire protection system was installed in the ceiling plenum throughout the building.
  • The facility is controlled by an electronic microprocessor-based Direct Digital Control (DDC) system, which is the primary control mechanism for all heating, ventilating, and air conditioning controls. All schedule and setpoint modifications are readily accomplished through an on-site terminal or off-site by protected internet access. Each zone or space has individual control and is addressable from the central operator station to assist in troubleshooting.
