OMAHA, NE — Doug Alvine P.E., LEED AP, FACEC has been inducted into the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) College of Fellows via a unanimous decision from their Executive Committee during their 2024 induction cycle. The College of Fellows consists of distinguished and recognized engineering leaders from within ACEC and their communities who work tirelessly to enhance the image of the consulting engineering profession. Admittance to the College of Fellows is based on demonstrated personal commitment, service, and industry-wide leadership.

As a founding member of ACEC Nebraska (ACEC NE), Alvine Engineering has supported ACEC NE and its mission since the organization’s inception. Mr. Alvine served as a member of the Board of Directors fulfilling the roles of Vice President, President and National Director. Doug’s appointment to Fellow status is a recognition of his efforts to promote engineering excellence and continued business health for member firms in an ethical environment. Throughout his career, Mr. Alvine has demonstrated a dedication to mentoring young engineers in the technical and leadership aspects of consulting engineering. Doug remains an active leader within the engineering and greater Nebraska community. He serves as the Chairman of the Board for the University of Nebraska (NU) College of Engineering Durham School, is a board member for the NU College of Engineering Advisory Board, and sits on the boards of numerous nonprofit community organizations. (for more details, we invite you to check out his profile overview).

“The founder of Alvine and Associates, Raymond G. Alvine, had a core value of giving back to the profession and to the communities in which we work,” Doug explained, “This value drives our engagement in ACEC and many other organizations.”

Mr. Alvine was nominated by ACEC NE and received letters of endorsement in support of his nomination from leaders around the architectural engineering and construction industry. Mr. Alvine’s nearly 40-year career is decorated with distinguished personal and professional honors. Mr. Alvine is a 2023 Charles Durham Award winner, ACEC NE’s highest honor, and has also provided his expertise and leadership on projects that have reshaped city skylines and elevated the inner core of multiple communities.

“I tell people that I am the luckiest guy in the world,” Doug explained, “I have been able to work with some of the greatest owners, architects, and engineers in the world, and the best part is that I get to call them my friends. Being awarded the status of Fellow in a great organization such as ACEC is very humbling. I see it as more about the strength of the engineering community within Nebraska, than it is about anything I may have done individually.”

Mr. Alvine will be formally recognized with this prestigious achievement at ACEC’s Annual Fall Conference hosted in New Orleans and will also be honored by ACEC NE at an event to be determined by the organization.
