Sam Anderson P.E.

From a young age, Sam viewed engineers as visionaries—builders, inventors, and problem solvers who shape the world. He aspired to one day proudly say, “I helped create that.” Raised in Iowa, Sam expected a future in agriculture, but his curiosity drew him into architectural engineering, where he has since contributed to the design of iconic buildings nationwide.
To Sam, knowledge is a lifelong commitment. Each project brings the opportunity to learn something new and incorporate lessons learned from past experiences. Sam has worked on captivating projects in all market sectors, but working on mass timber buildings has been the most impactful. Mass timber projects bring aesthetics and sustainability to the design industry, which are not achievable with traditional steel and concrete construction. Timber construction also presents challenges, including increased architectural and structural coordination compared to conventional buildings. Many of the mass timber projects Sam has worked on around the country are first of their kind in their respective cities, including T3 RiNo in Denver, Colorado.
Sam is looking forward to seeing the design industry continue to elevate its innovation. From LED lighting to more efficient equipment, better building materials, smart building controls, and various other advancements, the buildings are becoming increasingly sustainable and healthier to occupy every year. Studies show that Americans spend upwards of 90% of their time indoors, making it imperative to create healthy indoor environments for our society. Sam understands that it is the responsibility of engineering and design consultants to help create these environments and keep up to date with new technologies and practices.
