PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Architect Rand Elliott spent decades looking out his office window at the approximately 90-year-old flatiron building across the street, imaging how he would restore the building to what he calls “the jewel of the block” status. Now the headquarters of PLICO, an Oklahoma healthcare insurance provider, the updated Flatiron Building has retained its historical status but provides modern office spaces.

The project includes the renovation of the 2-level building and the construction of a modern, yet complimentary rooftop addition, boardroom, and outer deck that overlooks downtown.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

  • Won Interior Design magazine’s Best of Year award in the Office Restoration/Renovation category.
  • Won 2018 Central and Eastern Oklahoma AIA Honor Award, the highest level of award acknowledging distinctive character and outstanding merit.
  • Designed complete electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Provided exterior building mounted and yard area lighting.
