Temple Israel is a new Reform synagogue situated on a 14-acre parcel of what was a country club. Members of the Tri-Faith Initiative master planned a multi-faith neighborhood in west Omaha that includes three separate houses of worship: a mosque, a synagogue, an Episcopalian church, and a fourth building for interfaith collaboration.

Alvine Engineering provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and architectural lighting design for this new synagogue. The lighting concept was to accentuate the open feel of the space and offer transparency to the exterior. Botanical gardens and a sculpture garden were delicately lit to allow visitors to contemplate and meditate without distraction. Lighting control systems were used throughout the facility to allow spaces to transform for multiple uses.
