Marriott International

Alvine Engineering’s relationship with Marriott International began in 1979 with the design of the Omaha Marriott Hotel. Since then, we have completed more than 250 Marriott projects ranging from surveys and evaluations of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to designing MEP systems for new hotel developments.

Hotels experience a lot of wear and tear, with so many people constantly coming and going. They must also keep up with the competition by adding new amenities. At Alvine Engineering, we work with individual Marriott properties to identify timelines to update systems based on priority. Below are some of the updates we have engineered for Marriott projects.

  • Electric-resistant heating designed for guest rooms, enhancing comfort and control.
  • Variable air volume air handling systems were designed throughout the building for climate control and energy conservation.
  • Replacement of water source heat pumps.
  • Security system upgrades, including computerized card access control, CCTV surveillance cameras with video monitors, and motion detection and door contacts to verify locked/unlocked/open or closed doors.

Working from coast to coast, we understand that some challenges affect every hotel; however, specific properties also have individual needs. Some projects with Marriott have required special solutions.

  • Construction phasing plans are developed for some properties to allow construction/renovation work to take place while basic operations in spaces such as guest rooms can continue as normal.
  • Coordination with local authorities and code officials regarding significant project complexities for specific locations, including skyscrapers.
  • Design of all MEP systems to sustain hurricane-force winds and sea salt environments for properties near the coast.
  • Design of technology systems, including telecommunications, audiovisual, security, and access control to support guests and events such as conferences.
