Alvine Engineering Wins Two 2024 AEI Awards

OMAHA, NE – Alvine Engineering is proud to announce that two of our projects have been recognized by the Architectural Engineering Institute (AEI) for outstanding achievement in design. The renovation of the First National Tower in Omaha was selected as an Award of Excellence recipient in the renovation category of AEI’s Professional Project Award program, and the Alvine Engineering lighting studio was recognized with an Award of Merit in the lighting systems category for their work on the 101 Platform Way office tower in Nashville.

The AEI Professional Project Awards focus on the design and construction of high-performance buildings, including mechanical and electrical/lighting systems, with an emphasis on celebrating project team collaboration and architectural integration. The prestigious institution provides membership for more than 8,000 professionals and has been a premier organization in the architectural engineering industry for more than 20 years.

“It’s an honor to be recognized with the award and a payoff of the team’s hard work throughout design and construction,” Ben Williams, LC, stated, “Our design team provided the client with a completely unique lighting design, each floor representing a different portion of their Nashville home.”

Ben was the lead architectural lighting designer on the 101 Platform Way project who coordinated with contractors and the architect to ensure the lighting designs fulfilled the owner’s vision. 101 Platform Way’s unique thematic approach to architectural lighting was vital in garnering an Award of Merit from AEI’s judging panel comprised of well-respected architectural engineering industry pundits.

Our firm’s impressive array of cost-effective, energy-efficient building system solutions for the First National Tower renovation project impressed AEI’s award jury. Antonia Nelson, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, was the lead electrical engineer on the project whose keen insight and experience were key to developing the award-winning project.

“To be honored with an award for this project is very humbling,” Antonia stated, “It justifies the endless hard work put in to bring the First National Bank of Omaha’s design vision to life.”

The awards were formally recognized and distributed at the AEI Professional Project Awards Ceremony hosted as a part of their annual technical forum in San Jose, California, on April 10, 2024.

Alvine Engineering’s project portfolio has been well-celebrated by the past and present AEI award juries. Learn more about this year’s winning projects and our previous award winners below:
