Alvine Engineering Wins 2025 AEI Award

OMAHA, NE — Alvine Engineering is proud to announce the engineering innovation executed on the Nebraska State Capitol HVAC and Window Restoration project has been recognized by the Architectural Engineering Institute with an Award of Merit (Renovation Category). The judging panel, comprised of industry experts, was impressed by the Capitol’s ornate beauty, which was made possible through thorough cost analysis, ingenious problem-solving, and innovative design solutions.

“I was humbled to realize that AEI, the mainstay of the architectural engineering industry, was recognizing our team’s efforts for historic preservation engineering on this project,” Paul Bauman, P.E., LEED AP BD+C, an Alvine Engineering senior project manager who led the project’s mechanical design efforts, stated, “I’m thankful that we were able to improve this historic building that brings so much pride to so many people.”

For eight consecutive years since the award’s inception, Alvine Engineering has been recognized for distinguished excellence in the field of engineering by AEI’s Professional Project Award program (view the list of project winners below). Our firm’s latest award-winning project underwent a massive overhaul to restore the Capitol’s original mosaics, floors, and ceilings. Our firm also increased occupant comfort through HVAC improvements and ensured system longevity while providing solutions to mitigate future damage to the building’s historically significant components.

“As an MAE graduate from the University of Nebraska and as a person who has grown up in Nebraska, it is a sincere honor to have our team recognized in this way,” Paul stated, “This was a team effort by the owner’s representatives, architects, contractors, and equipment representatives which were all instrumental to making this a successful project.”

Alvine Engineering officially received the award on April 16, during the concluding ceremony of the annual AEI Conference hosted in Kansas City.
